After a long and frustrating week of not finding anything nice enough to hear I download this band "Motherjane". I had once attended their concert in 2004 in IITD when at that time they had recently won award for "Best Indian Rock Album" in 2002 or something like that. That concert was not much impressive so I hardly remember any other song except "Questions" played by them there, which indeed is not the best song of the album "Insane Biography". But this time when I listen to the whole album these guys from Cochin impressed me a lot. U really feel a fresh breeze especially if u are freaked out after listening to all the so called big shots of music and tryin' everything from Country to Rock and Jazz and Blues and Reggae and even Indian classical music. For the last 10 days I am continuosly listen to their music along with other Indian Bands.
Now something about their album "Insane Biography" which was released in 2001. This album surely deserves to be recognised. With total of 8 tracks atleast 4 tracks are far above average and at par with any International album, although I am not comparing them with the best ones. My instant favourite was "Mindstreet", their most popular track ever. When I listened it first time I just kicked my mind. High tempo, though balanced energy. I just keep on listening to this track for first few days. But eventually as I start listening to other songs they start growing. You can look for "Questions","Disillusioned" & "Maya".
Great tracks, great album and all in all a great change if want something different and need a break from the regulars.
Looking forward to check their next album "Maktub" which is released recently...
Will let u know about it soon....
